Our History

Tetra Tech was founded in the U.S. in 1966 to provide engineering services related to waterways, harbors, and coastal areas. For almost 60 years, Tetra Tech has provided clear solutions to complex problems in water, environment, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and international development.  

Tetra Tech operates in more than 50 offices throughout Europe with workforce of more than 5,000 technical experts who are collectively Leading with Science® to unlock sustainable development and solve complex challenges facing the UK’s built and natural environment. 

In 2019, Tetra Tech acquired professional services consultancy WYG, which greatly expanded the company’s geographic presence in the region, bringing market-leading water, environment, and infrastructure solutions to clients in the UK and Europe. This built upon the reputation already established in the region through the earlier acquisitions of NDY, Coffey Geotechnics, and Tetra Tech International Development. The addition of Hoare Lea in 2021 and RPS in 2023 continued to advance our skill sets in high performance buildings, energy transition, and digital water services.
