In another year of support for Walking With The Wounded, two Tetra Tech teams accepted the Cumbrian Challenge on 18th May of trekking 29 kilometres around the mountainous Lake District area and climbing nearly 2,000 metres in the process.
Each team, formed of members from across various disciplines and offices, took on the arduous journey to raise funds for the charity initiative which helps vulnerable veterans trying to re-enter employment and society at large. Whether they’re dealing with mental health issues, unemployment, homelessness, or the stigma of previous incarcerations, these veterans have faced more than enough hardships and we’re thankful to our colleagues for their concerted effort to make a difference.
Helen Haigh, Senior Project Manager at Tetra Tech, who organised the Leeds team’s involvement, said: “Thanks to everyone who has donated and for the kind generosity you’ve shown for this admirable cause. Some of the beneficiaries took part in the walk and it was touching to hear how this charity has helped to rescue them from a dark place and they can now move on with their lives once again.”
