Tetra Tech supporting Griffiths/Farrans on £8.7bn Highways England framework

Tetra Tech will be lead designer for the Griffiths/Farrans Joint Venture, which has been appointed by Highways England to its Regional Delivery Partnership framework. The ambitious initiative announced on 7 November 2018 will launch a new era for road building that seeks to create more informed and predictable journey times.

As lead designer for the Griffiths/Farrans Joint Venture, our team will support our partners in delivering part of Highways England’s £8.7 billion programme of work on England’s motorways and major A roads. We’re proud to be a part of this step change for Highways England which will deliver improvements in safety, predictability of journeys, and reductions in congestion across the network.

The joint venture we are supporting has been chosen as one of two contractors for Lot 1 of the framework, which covers the Southwest and Midlands area.

The framework also aims to address road noise, increased environmental benefits, greater innovation such as lighting and signs designed to require less maintenance, more accurate management of roadworks, and more. Projects will run from 2019 through to 2024.

Richard Brown, Head of Highways at Tetra Tech, said: “A safe and free-flowing network delivering excellent service for road users is one of the big cornerstones of a successful economy. The work we will be doing with our framework partners will support Highways England in delivering this goal. It’s a game-changer for the economy and the quality of life of road users and we’re all honoured to have been appointed to contribute to this process.”
