Tetra Tech Appointed as Regional Technical Service Provider (TSP) for the South Region by the Ministry of Defence

Continuing our long-standing relationship supporting the Ministry of Defence (MOD) we are pleased to announce that we have been appointed as the Regional Technical Service Provider (TSP) for the South Region as part of the Defence Estate Optimisation (DEO) Portfolio.

DEO is the single biggest estates change programme within Defence, bringing together an ambitious portfolio of interdependent programmes, construction activity, unit and personnel moves, and land release.

It is investing £5.1bn in a better-structured, modern and more sustainable estate that improves security, resilience, and military capability.

The South Region TSP is one of four frameworks to provide technical and project management support as part of a collaborative alliance with the other TSPs and delivery contractors. The South projects include a major DEO project at Alexander Barracks being delivered by Laing O’Rourke and five other projects at Baker Barracks (Thorney Island), Keogh Barracks (Farnborough) Rock Barracks (Ipswich) Elizabeth Barracks (Pirbright) and Napier Lines (Woolwich) working with Kier as the regional delivery contractor.

James Simonds, Project Management Director, Tetra Tech will be our Core Group Representative as part of the alliance.  He attended the ceremonial signing on 25 May 2023 along with the other Regional TSPs and the DEO Commercial and Procurement (Design and Build) (DC&PS) Contractors. He commented;

“The ceremony was a celebration of the strategic alliance framework that will deliver this once in a generation investment to the Defence estate. It will deliver modern and sustainable infrastructure to enhance existing and enable future capabilities for the benefits of the MOD’s most valuable asset – their people.

The ceremonial signing was attended by Baroness Goldie DL (Minister of State for Defence in the House of Lords), Director of Infrastructure for MOD Sherin Aminossehe, DIO’s Chief Executive Mike Green, and Major General Richard Clements CBE (Army Director of Basing and Infrastructure).

Commenting on this appointment Craig Hatch, Tetra Tech President UK said;

“Our commitment to delivering world class services to the Ministry of Defence has again been demonstrated by this appointment. It is an honour to be involved in these landmark projects in the DEO portfolio that will have a positive impact for military personnel for decades to come.”

Baroness Goldie DL also commented:

“The Estate Optimisation portfolio is fundamental to the future of Defence. From service, and family living accommodation, to specialist facilities such as hangars, command headquarters and medical facilities, this is the largest and most ambitious Defence infrastructure investment portfolio that we have as a department. At the heart of this is making life better for our people.

I am proud of the hard work that has gone into establishing these two contracts which are central to this programme’s successful delivery. This is a once in a generation opportunity to deliver significant change, and I for one am delighted to sign on the dotted line.”
