Tetra Tech Planning helped secure permission for a 210–bed Premier Inn hotel and two office buildings at Plot 5, Pierhead Street, Cardiff Bay. With over 700 hotels across the UK, Premier Inn is one of the UK’s largest hotel brands.

Tetra Tech Planning coordinated the submission and secured consent for a hybrid planning application, forming a part full and part outline application. The full permission includes a nine-storey Premier Inn Hotel, while the outline element concerns two office buildings extending to circa 15,687 sqm floorspace.
The development has enabled the regeneration of underutilised and previously developed land in a highly sustainable location at the heart of Cardiff Bay.
Proposals have delivered a new set of signature tall buildings in the area to ensure a sense of identity and place. The hotel also offers a complementary facility for visitors to the city center and bay attractions, simultaneously addressing the need for greater variety of hotels in Cardiff.
As part of the project, Tetra Tech Planning undertook pre application discussion with Cardiff Council, enabling high levels of collaboration that would ensure a development that truly benefits Cardiff Bay. We have assisted the co-ordination and submission of application documents and produced the Planning Statement.
