Pollution Prevention Guidance and the role of the Ecological Clerk of Works

Our Principal Ecologist in Edinburgh, Nicola Tyrrell, has contributed a feature article to the September edition of InPractice, a professional membership magazine by the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

In her piece, Nicola outlines recent changes in the Guidance for Pollution Prevention (formerly the Pollution Prevention Guidance), which provides environmental good practice advice for the UK, and environmental regulatory guidance directly to Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Nicola’s piece explores how relevant expertise and up-to-date knowledge can help ecologists and environmental managers highlight to clients and contractors the value of considering pollution prevention explicitly as part of their responsibility to protect the environment. She also discusses how pollution prevention can fit within the roles of the Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).

CIEEM is the leading professional membership body representing and supporting ecologists and environmental managers in the UK, Ireland and abroad. To find out more about it, please visit the CIEEM website.
