Community Business Breakfast – Rebuilding Lives and Recruiting Skilled Refugees.

Join Tetra Tech and RETAS at this UKREiiF 2024 fringe event on May 22 to enjoy breakfast, networking, and insights into the benefits of recruiting skilled refugee workers.

As part of UKREiiF 2024, Tetra Tech will be hosting Leeds-based charity RETAS (Refugee Education Training Advice Service), who will be giving a presentation on the benefits of integrating skilled refugee workers into the national business network while gaining support in achieving social value objectives.

Speakers include RETAS CEO Roger Nyantou, and a talk from a lived experience speaker, who will be sharing experiences as a skilled refugee integrating into the community.

About RETAS

Founded in 2022, RETAS has a vision to see refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable migrants welcomed, supported, and fully integrated into society. The RETAS team represents 22 languages and 18 countries, and 70% of their staff members have a lived experience of migration to the UK.

UK migrants are more likely to work in jobs for which they are overqualified. The organisation works tirelessly to help skilled workers integrate with local communities, learn about the UK employment industry, and find places of work where their skills and experiences can benefit businesses.

What to Expect

You can expect refreshments (prepared by a RETAS team member with lived migration experience), discussions, and a presentation on how a wide range of backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives can push business growth.

The presentation will include insights into the benefits of a more diversified workforce, including:

  • Filling talent gaps and skills shortages
  • The high retention rates of hiring skilled refugee workers
  • Key information on engaging with refugees looking for work
  • Employee engagement and ethical business reputation

When and Where

The event will run from 08:00 am to 08:40 am on Wednesday 22 May. However, it’s best to get there for around 7:30 am to settle in with some fresh food and a hot drink.

Tetra Tech will be hosting at the following location:
