Alex Grainger delivers winning NxtGen poster pitch at IAM Annual Conference

Congratulations to Alex Grainger, Project Manager at Tetra Tech, who recently delivered a winning pitch at a Pitch & Poster session hosted by NxtGen at the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Annual Conference.

The IAM NxtGen is a community of new asset management professionals who come together to learn, develop their careers, and share experiences with others in the industry. It hosts the Pitch & Poster session annually at the IAM Annual Conference, which offers a programme of multiple topic streams and themes aimed at engaging all members of the asset management community.

Alex’s poster, “Economic Data Capture on Highly Regulated Sites,” focused on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on a nuclear licensed site to make up for gaps in knowledge and data quality. Presenting before all the delegates of the conference, he touted the many advantages of UAVs: affordable asset information collection, accurate provision of vital information that informs asset management plans, significant cost savings, and further collateral benefits.

Going forward, Alex said there is potential for artificial intelligence and digital twins (digital replicas of physical assets) to auto-detect conditions and make asset management decisions independently.

Steven Little, Director at Tetra Tech, said: “For Alex’s pitch to be selected for delivery at the conference was an achievement in itself. To win the competition as well is a testament to Alex’s development, the talent we develop across our business, and the effectiveness of the services we deliver.”

Craig Hatch, Managing Director at Tetra Tech, said: “As a corporate member of the IAM, we value the institute’s promotion of best practice asset management. The subject matter of Alex’s pitch highlights his personal capability and typifies the innovative approach we look to promote within the delivery of our services within the surveying and asset management business.”
